Liberated

Brenan got his license today, after 1 1/2 hours at the DMV with an appointment>>>he passed!!!! No more driving him to school or seminary. I think I feel more liberated then he does. So this is a huge threshold ...... my last one to enjoy freedom from the Taxi, Yeah!

What happened...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EVERYONE!!!

Okay, like i said I've been off the grid...another month has gone buy, yikes! I'm really good at keeping up with Aubree's blog but mine has gone to the way side. So here's the rundown, Taylor, Amanda, Zoe, Brenan and Amber have had birthdays. I only have a few pics...Brenan started school 11th grade.

Off the Grid

Yeah, how's your life? Well this will explain mine- CDM out for summer, basketball tournaments, basketball practice, more tournaments, wedding receptions, summer, missionary in Brazil (picture), Big Bear Lake, basketball games, new nursery leader, de-junking nursery, organizing nursery, basketball, occasional quilting, temple names, do I need to go on....I hope you have a fantastic summer! Don't expect much for a few more months. If you'd like to keep tabs on Aubree, link over to her blog. I'm good about keeping this up! She has just passed her 11 month mark and coming up on a year! Wow...she loves Brazil and I'm hoping she'll want to come home.

Aubree's in Barbacena, Brazil

Picture 1- This is Barbacena, a little town in the country.

Picture 2- Sister Flora is Aubree's new companion. She has been out for 7 weeks, a greenie...

Picture 3- Sister Corbin is knocking on a door, redeeming souls if they would just open the door. I love this picture. It shows how steep the hills are and how much they climb. Aubree actually looks like she is getting calves.

We Got Graupel!

It's hail, it's snow, no, it's both -- It's graupel

-According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center (there really is such a place), graupel are "snowflakes that become rounded pellets due to riming; typical sizes are 2 to 5 millimeters in diameter (0.1 to 0.2 inch); graupel is sometimes mistaken for hail." The process that creates graupel -- aka snow pellets or "soft hail" -- is the same that creates hail. According to the National Weather Service, graupel (click here to learn how to pronounce it) is formed when supercooled water droplets coat a snowflake. "The pellets are cloudy or white, not clear like sleet..." They've also been called "little Styrofoam balls," that can lead to avalanches, acting like small ball bearings between snow layers.

I've never seen graupel before, it was really cool to touch...in Corona Del Mar-what?

Coach's Award

I just wanted to share with you a special night. It was Brenan’s Basketball Banquet. There were 17 boys on the Fresh/Soph team. Not to be out done by his siblings. They handed out 3 Awards and Brenan received the Coach’s Award. We are so proud of him. Even if he is the shortest on the team, he has the biggest heart! In one of his games, he pulled out the team with a win shooting three-three pointer’s to win against Beckman. Way to go Brenan…

These pictures say a thousand words. He's getting to like Nana if I bribe him with candy. Still prefers to go to the male species. I guess he'll figure out Nana later. We love you Dane.

David Garett for Christmas

We went to see David Garrett on February 5th, if you don't know who he is just google his name and listen to him play...it was incredible. Thanks Amanda and James for our Christmas Gift....it was awesome!

Give Us this Day Our Daily Bread

Hi Everyone- So basically Aubree's blog has taken over and I have not really done much with ours. Feel free to click over to her blog for the missionary updates. I just got her camera chip in the mail for some cute pic updates. This is Aubree on her birthday. She told me she had an ice cream as her "CAKE". She's a Golden Spoon girl at heart. Ice cream will do for now.
I survived the holidays...Christmas was shared with our family. Did some bowling with the Procuniars and loved just being home.

On Another note- this is part of a talk given recently at a CES Fireside. Awesome, something to ponder-

Included in the Lord’s Prayer is the petition “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11) or “Give us day by day our daily bread” (Luke 11:3). I believe that we would all readily acknowledge that we have needs each day that we want our Heavenly Father’s help in dealing with. For some, on some days, it is quite literally bread—that is, the food needed to sustain life that day. It could also be spiritual and physical strength to deal with one more day of chronic illness or a painfully slow rehabilitation. In other cases it may be less tangible needs, such as things related to one’s obligations or activities in that day—teaching a lesson or taking a test, for example.

Jesus is teaching us, His disciples, that we should look to God each day for the bread—the help and sustenance—we require in that particular day. This is consistent with the counsel to “pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul” (2 Nephi 32:9).

The Lord’s invitation to seek our daily bread at our Heavenly Father’s hand speaks of a loving God, aware of even the small, daily needs of His children and anxious to assist them, one by one. He is saying that we can ask in faith of that Being “that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given” (James 1:5). That is, of course, tremendously reassuring, but there is something at work here that is more significant than just help in getting by day to day. As we seek and receive divine bread daily, our faith and trust in God and His Son grow.
